Organizations can now choose to host NewCommunicator in Japan, the United States, or the European Union to better align with their data residency requirements.
We're pleased to announce that NewCommunicator is now available with EU-based hosting, effective November 2, 2026.
With the addition of our European region, organizations can now choose from three Microsoft Azure hosting locations—Japan, the United States, and the European Union—during the initial setup of their NewCommunicator subscription.
This expansion gives organizations greater flexibility to align their hosting location with internal data policies, security requirements, and operational needs.
Supporting Data Residency Requirements Across Regions
For many organizations, choosing a cloud-based solution involves more than evaluating its features and functionality. Where data is stored and processed can be an important consideration, particularly for organizations operating in regulated industries or across multiple countries.
In Europe, requirements surrounding personal data protection, data residency, and international data transfers are particularly relevant when evaluating cloud services.
To help address these considerations, we've expanded NewCommunicator's hosting infrastructure to a Microsoft Azure data center within the European Union.
This new option is designed to support organizations that prefer or require EU-based data hosting.
Three Hosting Regions Available
When activating a NewCommunicator subscription, customers can choose from three hosting regions during the initial setup, based on their organization's data residency and operational requirements.
Hosting Region | Data Hosting Location |
|---|---|
APAC (Hosted in Japan) | Japan |
AMERICAS (Hosted in the United States) | United States |
EMEA (Hosted in Europe) | Within the European Union (EU) |
These hosting options are available regardless of an organization's geographical location. For example, organizations in the Middle East and Africa may also choose EU-based hosting if it aligns with their data residency policies and operational needs.
Please note: Selecting a particular hosting region does not, by itself, guarantee compliance with GDPR or other applicable regulations. Organizations should review the relevant terms of service and assess their own regulatory and security requirements before deployment.
Expanding Access to NewCommunicator Worldwide
NewCommunicator is currently available through Microsoft Marketplace in 70 countries, helping organizations improve internal communications through Microsoft Teams.
As organizations seek reliable alternatives to Microsoft's retired Company Communicator app template, we've seen growing interest from enterprises, public sector organizations, and educational institutions worldwide.
With the addition of EU-based hosting, we're making NewCommunicator accessible to more organizations, including those whose data residency requirements may previously have been a barrier to adoption.
